january plows (bulldozes, rather) on.

it was not a great day. i won't bore you with the details (because in the grand scheme of thing--they're all just details) but let's just say: it. was not. a great. day.

it certainly doesn't help that i got a wee of a pinpoint headache two days before the new year which grew and grew and grew and then seemed to explode on the first of january. but with a little medicine and a good night of sleep it passed.

but alas it appeared again. this morning. on the opposite side.

i get these headaches  at the back of my head to the right and the left of the occipital joint. (yup, i said occipital joint--that's juilliard schooling for you, i did learn some impressive things).

go ahead and google search pinpoint headaches. occipital pinpoint headaches, at that. and see how you feel after reading some of the literature out there. (this is why doctors tell patients not to google. and not to panic).

so i'm not panicking. because it's probably just stress. (and january).

yup, it's probably just january.

because perhaps the things that made today so... very-not-good... will--in the end--prove bountiful blessings:

the gift of time. the impetus to move on from relationships that are no longer meaningful. the courage to take risks.

time will tell. and tomorrow is a new day.

(and yes, i dare say january is the practice-round for the rest of the year--it's okay if it's something of a disaster. in fact, why not fail a lot now?).

It's definitely January. The January Syndrome. For me too, it seems that everything drags. But I agree, let's all get our mistakes out now! xo

meg, you are so smart and you always say things the way they should be said.

i hope things start to go better for you these next few days and that your headache goes away because dang, headaches are the worst!

you might "just" have a migraine :) though that sucks too, haha... either way, i would reccommend getting as much sleep as you can and i hope you feel better soon!! best wishes from norway

yes i assume that is why january seems a difficult month for all. we try to get all of our failures out of the way so we can climb.

i hope your awful migraine goes away soon. silly sounding but a hot pad on the back of my neck helps my migraines. i believe the muscles in the back of my neck are the culprit.

Oh dear! You poor thing. January is a bit of a crap month. Far too all over the place for my liking. Chin up, February will be here before you know it!

i think your blog is the only one which i don't skip over when i see a pictureless post. even when it's about your bad days and headaches, the reading is still enjoyable (i hope that is a compliment of sorts). :) !

let's all curl up with good books, cuddly blankets, and hot cocoa and laugh in january's face, shall we?

I, too, am plagued by headaches and often migraines. It's the worst. I take muscle relaxers and sleep as much as I can for the worst ones, and I'm finally starting to see a chiropractor about it. Mine are mostly related to TMJ but some are stress-related as well. I totally feel for you on this one. Just take extra good care of yourself. That's the best way to weather the headache storm. I hope your January passes quickly so you can get started with the rest of your awesome year! (I will be back in NYC late-Jan and we will at least have a coffee date. New year resolution!)

Ah ha! Did you know that when I google it, your post comes up on the top of the list? The thrill of being Google-able! (my stats told me the other day that I'm Google-able when you search for "my baby daddy mexican mom hates me" cool?)

I can totally relate and I feel your pain. I've had one for the past three days and there's no kicking it. Usually heat or ice do the trick but this time, nada. Oh, and sleep only makes it worse! :(
