they lit the big tree this week. the one at rockefeller center. but i'm gonna let you on a little secret.
the oragami tree at the american museum of natural history is the one to see. it's pure magic (and i'm not easily impressed). it emanates light. glitters. and when you go, because you must, look for the little space man--my personal favorite.
have the loveliest of weekends! but before you go, may i ask a favor of you? i want to know what it is that you the reader most like to see on this blog... a little feedback if you will. i ask because your opinions always provide me with such insight and inspiration. and on that note, happy weekend, happy holidays and happy, happy tree-gazing (wherever you might be).

an origami tree? that sounds awesome!
i really liked your last post - the rambling one. sometimes its nice to see a train of thought and development of ideas instead of seeing only the thought out end. like, it's about the journey, not so much the destination.
hope you're having a great december so far!
I have to admit that there is definitely not one thing that I like the most. I love this blog because of the eclectic nature of your posts. I love the letters to your future husband, recipes like your ice cream pie, ramblings like today's, cool places you've been and photos you've taken, and personal posts about your life and family. It's fun to see the different sides of who you are and what has shaped you. I think everyone relates to that. I just found your blog this week and I really like it :) Sorry my comment is so so long.
Hi Meg,
It's a curious thing why we are drawn to some blogs, while shying away from others. I discovered yours via the Rockstar Diaries, and while Taza is great, I'm more drawn to yours because of the bare, stripped-down honesty in your posts. You are a phenomenal writer and in a way, I think you write what we feel. I love when you talk about your heart and the guys who have touched it. I miss your dear future husband posts (I feel like you used to do more of those?). Anyway, you're an inspired (and inspiring) person. I think anything you post will be well worth the read.
I usually read you through my reader, so this is my first time seeing your header-- I love the illustration!
that tree is amazing!
as for your blog, i too love it all.
i love that you post what you feel at the moment {i'm assuming that is.} i love your FED posts, but love that you don't dwell on it either. i love your dear husband posts and your insights into your new york life. i'm totally living vicariously through you!
just keep it all coming, and i will be just happy!
pst.. i like how you would read posts that you could hear. do some more of those!
okay.. and i'm done rambling.
meg you are so sweet. i love all of your posts. and i love them even more after having the opportunity to meet you this summer in provo. a highlight for me if i may say. you glow just like your writing. oh and can you please post more quotes. every quote you post i wonder how you are feeling the same as i.
sending love.
I can't remember how I found your blog - I am all the way over in Perth Western Australia, where christmas time is summer time. I love your blog because of your honesty -I see so much of myself in you at the same age. I am now 36 with two small girls. Happy holidays - K
a couple of things:
1. your comment on my blog about writing my renaissance lit paper in a coffee shop was the sweetest and kindest thing ever. i found it very inspiring, so thank you. :)
2. the origami tree is AWESOME. thanks for the inside scoop for when i visit or live up there some day!
3. i love everything about your blog. i love how it has a little bit of everything; it never gets repetitive. i can really relate to a lot of what you've written about your own life, and one of my best friends has battled an eating disorder for the past several years. you've helped me understand her a little bit more. i also love your letters to your future husband. they're precious.
I echo the sentiments of previous comments. I enjoy hearing about all sides of your life, the complaints, the laughs, the cooking and eating, the travels, the family, the hopes and heartaches, and your thoughts about it all. Basically, I love that you simply share your life. This is one blog where I don't feel pretentiousness and that's why I read it.
Hugs,
Christine
P.S. I love your comments from time to time on my blog. Thank you.
I definitely want to visit that tree now! I'll try and pop in to see it tomorrow.
As for your blog, I just like reading about your life. Similar to you, I'm currently trying to figure out my place, my rightful place at that, in the world and what I can best do to contribute to it. I like reading about your adventures and all the things you're going through -- it makes me feel better, like I'm not alone or the only one going through a difficult time.
WHAT?! origami tree!? oh man, i want one. like i want a basketful of puppies. which is to say, a lot...
personally i loved your last post! love any and all of your rambles in all their loveliness. :)
I like how you voice the fears and insecurities most young adult women have but are afraid to say or think that no one else feels...and I like the funny posts too. I just like you.
Hi Meg,
I just love all of your posts. I love the FED posts (very much relate to those ones), I love the "future husband" ones (even now that I have a husband I still have dreams/wishes of what I see him becoming as we grow older- I think it keeps my crush-aspect of our love going), and I love all the other great insights you share about life in general. I do especailly love a post with a picture (maybe my stalker side?). Thanks for your writing! This is my favorite blog!
I love when you share cool quotes.
But also, when you just write. Whatever little ramblings or thought bubbles that come out. But I love those little morsels of creative brilliance.
I agree with most everyone else on just enjoying your ramblings. I loved yesterday's post, about hating the A train because I have so many similar memories of NYC just like that. I love reading about your day, the meals that you prepared in your kitchen, the way you feel when you come home etc. Your ability to express yourself is a unique gift that not everyone has and I enjoy it. Keep writing Please!
that tree is awesome.
hello!
i love our posts. just your inspiring writing and thoughts. it seriously gets me through the day.
i would love to see more pictures of you and your life too! but seriously, your blog is amazing. i read it often and it always makes me happy!
happy holidays and have a great weekend yourself! :)
*your posts.
sorry about that. i tend to miss the y key on my keyboard. :)
i totally agree with all the comments above - i enjoy reading about you - all the little details that make you unique and all the things you say that most people don't have the courage to voice. :)
Wow! So much time went into those! So beautiful!
I love all that you write. You are one of the few bloggers I follow religiously.
You do a great job of interspersing funny, picture filled posts, with introspective and soul bearing posts, with posts full of deep seeded opinions and world views.
My only tip is to please keep writing. :)
Kelsey
I love your random little stories and rambling posts :) Otherwise, just keep on being you! Best wishes from Norway
PS! I also love the quotes! Especially the hafiz one in the sidebar :)
I been pondering on why I love to read your blog so much, and am always delighted when I see a new post or banner (this current one is outstanding!). I think I love your blog because of your honest, unique voice, and the knowledge that someone halfway across the States has similar feelings and thoughts as I do. You are inspiring while sharing your day to day life because you show how we can be triumphant in the small and big things. When I read your blog I feel inspired. You remind me to look at the little things in my life. The little things are what turn out to be so amazing everyday. And many times I have read your blog thinking "that is how you put it into words," or "yeah! I feel the same way sometimes." And as people, we love to identify with something we know. Since you are so honest, I think we all identify a little bit with you, or at least hope to! Thank you Meg, for being open, honest, and courageous. Happy Holidays. I hope you get to spend a lot of time with the people you love.
Oh I miss New York at Christmas time. This is the second year in a row my family is not going to be there for the holidays. It makes me very sad because I love this time of year in the city. I want to see more pictures of New York through the month of December just so I can live vicariously through you :)
That tree is wonderful. I hope, one day, that I can see New York's little quirks at Christmas. It is a place I have always, always wanted to go to.
I read your blog simply because I love its beauty. I love the way you write, the little foibles in the way you construct your sentences and the depth and the passion you bring to your observations. I hate the fact that you have had to battle an eating disorder but in a silver lining sort of way, I treasure the way in which you have recovered; the humanity and the sensitivity you bring to describing it and the strength it has brought you. I like your honesty, your passion for your arts, your courage.
I read your blog for so many reasons, but I think mostly just for your beautiful writing. Whether you're writing about your day, a story, a problem, FED, you do it beautifully. I also just get the feeling that if I actually met the people who write all the blogs I read, you would be most likely to be my friend. I like your personal stories the best probably, accented with gorgeous writing and bright, cheery pictures.
that origami tree is magical.
i gravitate towards food blogs and blogs that are about real life with random topics. i tend to shy away from blogs with a schedule... certain days are for certain topics. i like people who blog about what they are feeling that day, that moment... whatever the topic may be.
I followed your blog recently because you have spice and variety in your posts. Sometimes you have pictures of the city, which is fun for me to see since I live in a little town down south. And sometimes you talk about the A train. And you speak as though you're talking to yourself sometimes, and it makes me laugh. And I enjoy your love letters too. I wouldn't change a thing here... just keep doing what you're doing.
what a beautiful tree!
I love your writing. Whatever it is your write about from happenstance to major events- it's always inspiring :)
