i've been working on finding balance in all areas of my life. work. health. time. space.
and so i promised myself that on this, my one day off, i'd enjoy it.
and new york acquiesced. as i exited my building, i swung the door open to find four (five?) strapping, young fireman standing in the narrow entry. my knees buckled, i swooned, and right then and there i decided i've never loved new-york-city-living so much as i did in that very moment.
then i met my dear friend alex who i love for oh-so-many-reasons (and who i loved most especially today because he used the word lascivious during our conversation). we talked of the aforementioned balance, a nagging lack of courage, romantic prospects and then to finish it off we stood over the food case and debated sweet v. savory. to which i replied: how can one choose? because i can't imagine why one would want to. i'll take both. at the same time, please.
so, but now i wanna know... sweet or savory? what do you think? do tell...

9 times out of 10 I'm a savory kind of gal... but with that frothy cappuccino you're holding, that demands a little something sweet!
french macarons are my absolute, hands-down, favorite dessert. and that case of them is making ME swoon.
savory.
i'm a sweet girl although some times i do crave salt.
"lascivious" is one of my all-time favourite words. just don't let me have to define it in front of polite company ...
I usually choose sweet over savory. Those cakes look delicious. <3
Sweet all the way!
ah both. really. i would take both. i can't decide those things. ha
and you look gorgeous meg!
i cannot choose - but im leaning towards sweet with these images!!!!
i want some macaroons, pls!
sweet then savory then sweet again.
I think I've already told you my opinion on this. It's an ongoing never ending cycle.
and i like it.
(i'll be honest, at first I thought you were referring to men...sweet or savory men). in which case, I pick spicy. ay papi!
I need both! (all about balance ;))
I love your new blog header... I've been a bad blog reader so it's new to me. It's gorgeous!
tooo hard to pick! like you, i love them both equally. But.... if i had to pick for life or death purposes, I would pick sweet!
I love sweet. I think I could live my whole life just on sweet (as long as I could have a piece of cheese every once in a while). And I love that Liz Lemon quote below. I only watch 30 Rock sporadically, but every time I do it makes me happy.
black, bitter and caffeinated :)
no ... more often it's savory. love the sweets occasionally but i find it hard to end on a sweet.
You said it "both. at the same time. please".
Love your blog!
i'm definitely a sweet girl!
yum, to everything in those photos!
Lately I've been craving savory. i.e. a lovely french cheese on a baguette or something similar. But how about the combo of the two? Sweet buttercream surrounded by layers of flaky crust? Yum! Best of both worlds.
I'm with you - I like them at the same time. I have a cookie recipe that is saltier than most and I LOVE it. Too much sweetness makes me feel too...sweet. And I definitely not all sweet. :)
Sweet, hands down. I rarely, rarely get savoury cravings (which is a shame, really, because it'd probably do my teeth a greater good). I like to bake, too, and I am not very good at baking savoury foods... probably because I <3 cupcakes a little too much.
Both. Definately both. Ever try one those salted caramel hot chocolates at Starbucks? A beautiful BALANCE :))
Dandy
Meggy you look soooo beautiful! Glowing! I so enjoy reading your wise words :) xxx Miriam
If it came down to it and I was FORCED to choose....it would be savory. I tend to like a little savory-ness in my desserts anyways...salt, basil. But then again, I like a little sweet with my savory...turkey & cranberry sauce, honey mustard. Oh boy, I'm in a quandary again.
savory! Almost every time :)
MMMM FIREMEN!! i take the long way to school sometimes so i can catch a glimpse through the window of the 66th street fire station.
oh wait is that stalkerish?
I agree, one should not have to choose. Savory and then sweet - always... but this is coming from someone who currently has no balance!
