homeward bound.

morning hike

i'm gonna level with you. i'm a little bit granola.

and the promise of a week in boulder, colorado (or just outside it) come next tuesday has me breathing a bit easier.

a week of nothing but jeans, dansko clogs, zip-up sweaters, shopping at the spacious whole-foods (as only colorado can produce), family, good food, laughter, morning hikes followed by morning coffee runs, cool-fresh-mountainous air: all respite for the soul.

and then there's thanksgiving. my favorite holiday. something about the glow of a dining room against the quickly-darkening november sky. the people you most love convened in one room offering up gratitude for the gift of one more year.

i'm actually counting down the days...

i think colorado can make anyone a little bit granola. its quite possibly my favorite place. plus how can you say no to the almond croissants from the spacious whole foods?!

Sounds so delightful! Maine has a similar feel of casual coziness! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday for the same reasons! So excited!

Not gonna lie, you just made me miss home (which is Colorado) so much that it hurts a little bit in my heart. Please enjoy that fresh air and open spaces and the mountains for me! I am not only missing Colorado but Thanksgiving as well this year, since I am living alone in Spain.

Ooh. You just made me want to buy the next flight out of my little city to the cool, gorgeous mountains of CO. I hope you have a fabulous time and come back feeling refreshed!

Oh, you're gonna have so much fun!! I went to college in Boulder for a year. If you get a chance, you HAVE to check out Lucile's, an amazing creole breakfast place in Boulder! It's adorable and they have sweet tea and beignets! (Don't laugh, but do you eat eggs? I know you don't eat meat--and I don't either, which is a new thing for me, but I do eat eggs--if you do, they have Eggs Jennifer, an amazing eggs benedict with spinach!!) Also, there's the Boulder tea house. Have fun!

This sounds lovely ... but over here in New Zealand, while you are cosying up in snowy Colorado, I will be enjoying early summer sunshine on an east coast beach!

Your Thanksgiving plans sound positively relaxing! I will be making a 3-day-whirlwind trek to sunny and potentially hot Southern California, most likely wishing I was able to quietly spend the holiday somewhere more like the Colorado you describe. :)
