alright, you wore me down and I am going to check out these boys. How cool that you got to interview a band you love so much! You asked such poignant questions! I loved the article and that you really got this artist to show himself and his process. Bravo!
I adore this. The Avett Brothers are my all-time favorite, and you just put into words how I feel about them. Murder in the City was the song that killed me. They summed up in one line the feeling I had that I could have NEVER put into words about my family. It summed up how I felt about my siblings primarily and then my new family with my husband. I used it in the speech I gave at my sister's wedding, and it is my unspoken family motto.
I've seen them twice live, and I'm hoping to see them in St. Louis again in two weeks. Currently sold out, but we'll see what happens. They have yet to play Murder in the City at any of the shows but someday I think they will, and I will have tears streaming because my heart will not be able to hold the joy.
i love the part where you discuss the timidity of releasing a song to the world. I feel like that's something so many of us can relate to - whether it's a song, a painting, a written piece, a photo.
fantastic interview, Meg and brilliant accompaniment. I'm not an avid Avett follower, but I think your description made me develop a little bit of a crush! :) xo
This is so wonderful! The Avett Brothers played here in Burlington last weekend, so I spent Saturday night on the rocks by Lake Champlain listening to them. It was amazing. They are amazing.
I love the Avett Brothers, and this article is amazing. Great work! I'm actually going to see them Sunday night in Baltimore. They are my fav to see live.
I used to read your blog. And then I basically quit reading blogs? And sometimes even writing blogs? I needed a break. And I'm so happy to have landed back here tonight because just reading a simple article on the Avett brothers reminded me WHY I started reading and writing blogs in the first place. Your writing is always a breath of fresh air.

When I met them a few years ago I was struck by how genuinely kind they were. Love love love them (and you! you're awesome!).
