in my dreams: a home.

the majority of stress in my life right now comes from the prospect of moving. after nearly eight years in new york i know a few things. but mostly new york real estate makes you feel like you know nothing. and right now i'm in the i-know-nothing/i-can't-imagine-ever-finding-a-home phase. so i've taken to scouring pinterest.

i know what i want, you know: light, simple, clean.

what do you all look for in a home?

Lots of light and a huge kitchen. I love the third picture! That long table needs to get in my life. Good luck finding a new home!

Ehhhhh, all of the pictures above.
This is my home, I cant believe you have posted online like this. Hahahaha. Yeah, ok, my home isnt quite like this, in fact, its nothing like this. It is old, has kids toys strewn all over the place, it needs a massive refurb BUT if I close my eyes for a second, I can imagine me in the home in your pics!
Just for a second.

Enjoyed this today.
Thanks.

Great pictures, they make me want to renovate my apartment.
I like lots of natural light ( my studio apartment is on the corner of my building so i have windows on two sides), white/beige furniture , etc.
My current kitchen is horrible - no room to put things. So my next apartment should have a better one.
But what i've learned is that you have to feel good about living there - if you don't feel right about it the very first time you see it, you'll never feel at 'home' !
I hope you'll find your new home soon - and hope to see what you make out if the new apartment on the blog!
Good luck - JuJu

Anything with a ton of natural light and big windows.

My only requirement is windows. The rest of "home" is what you make of it :)

Like you, I'd like a simple, clean home with lots and lots of natural light. And little pops of pattern and color wherever I pleased (rugs, pillows, that sort of thing).

I can't wait to own my own house. Unfortunately, NY real estate is completely ridiculous (in terms of pricing). But I can't see myself living anywhere else. See, that's the thing.

Sweet Jesus I would love so much white! My dear toddler won't let me entertain that thought for a moment... DOOO IT! For me. So I can live vicariously through you.

A home for me? As dual working parents, as little lawn/home maintenance time, the better. Small (so I don't have much to clean), cozy, small yard, and preferably by some sort of water and walking distance to shops/eatery's. I'm not easy to please. A location whore for sure... and my list of requirements for the inside are pretty particular too. :-/

Beautiful pictures and dreams. Hope you find it soon. I like a lot of colour. Bohemian. My home is cozy and warm with earth tones reds, browns, oranges and gold ( the muted deep colours) I have pictures on my blog under the home label I think. I love what it is mostly but need a different set up. It's too big. Bigger is not better. I like small contained, easy to clean but large enough to entertain spaces. Also love the Not so Big series of homes:)

I look for lots of natural light, plenty of closet space and cabinets, and hardwood floors. The photos you posted are perfect.

In a home, I like modern touches, wood floors, and a minimalistic design.

something with a lot of windows. so that there is the hope for a lot of natural light (and hopefully sun!) to grace the insides.

someplace where there is a little nook (preferrably next to a window) so that one can just curl up in the corner and read, drink a coffee, journal, or study.

I feel like the list could go on. but something that is cozy and light would do nicely. :)

Hang in there--they say moving is the third most stressful thing in life, behind death and divorce. In hindsight my last one was simple--just across town, but I had a couple of unexpected full blown meltdowns! Stuff just creeps up and piles on and then...But it's totally worth it once you get there and can close the door and can just sit, look around, and take a deep breath:)

Lot's of light, a huge wrap around porch (Something about a wrap around porch in the south with lots of rocking chairs), exposed brick walls a la A. Hayes Town, arched entrances, good crown molding, a gorgeous oak tree with Spanish Moss that I can hook a swing to, wood floors. Plenty of storage space!

ah i love the bedroom!
someday i want a home with a huge kitchen with a sofa and lots of chairs in it so i can have people over for food and my kids (that hopefully will be there in the future too) can sit and make their homework or colour or play whatever while i'm cooking. also, a little garden where i can grow herbs and vegetables would be lovely.

Do you think you'll always live in New York?

I feel torn sometimes. I'm from Georgia and my entire family is there, but I've been in San Francisco 8 years and aside from my family, my entire life is here. It's a conundrum with which I know you are familiar. :)
