getting older.

yesterday i confessed to tom that i'm having difficulty with the number 26. i am almost 26. just writing that now nearly takes my breath away.

he told me not to worry, it's not till you turn 27 that you're in your late twenties.

funny, i didn't think it was till 28.

oh boy.

Don't fret - It's not late-20's until 29.5. Trust this 28 year old on that! ;) Happy almost-birthday, and keep your chin up to enjoy everything 26 will surely bring!

I know you probably hear this all the time but your "late" 20s will be better than your early 20s, promise.

I turned 30 this year and so far it's been my favourite year, and I'm not just saying that! :)

I remember having a crisis when I turned 25.

When I was in my early 20s I thought those years were the best ever, but every year seems to get better as I go and I've loved my mid-twenties, and the start to my late-twenties, and I look forward to my 30s too!

You know, I totally relate to this. I turn 26 next week and it seems very strange. 25 just seemed like any other birthday, but for some reason this one feels different. Like I should be different. I still feel very young, and not at all like what I'd always imagined a 26-year-old would be. Oh well. I guess we'll just have to figure it out as we go.

Age is a funny thing. I'm having a hard time with 25 in five months. But I guess they do say that women get better with age. Do they actually say this? I'm going to say that they do. You, my dear, are gorgeous and fabulous, and 26 is going to suit you just fine.

I felt so old when I turned 25! I actually went looking for wrinkles and whites! But I guess aging has its joys! I'm still trying to find them though...

Oh, and I absolutely love your blog! It's my go-to blog when I need to read something that is just really well written!;)

27 definitely falls in the mid-20s range!

Late 20s isn't until 28 at the earliest. 26 is definitely still mid 20s, as is 27. And at 28 you can say mid-to-late twenties, just to drag it out a bit further.

Don't worry though. It only gets better (I say as a wise, just turned 30 year old).

I'm turning 27 in 12 days, and I refuse to admit it's the beginning of my late 20s. That can't possibly be possible.

I'm 25 and I am refusing to have another birthday! :)

I turn 29 soon. I had similar feelings to you going into my 26th and 27th and 28th birthdays. I still don't feel that old, so I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I think we are all a little worried towards numbers: age, weight, etc. But, numbers do not define us. I am 17, yet I know 50 year olds with a more lively spirit than myself. So, numerically speaking, they are older than I am. But, in spirit they are younger. From there, you can choose which one defines you!

I mean, 26 is closer to 30, sure, but when you think of who you were at 21 and who you are now, well at least for me, it felt good to be 26. Like, look how far I've come and I'm only 26!

27 is not late twenties! No way!

PS this has nothing to do with age, butlisten to the Bon Iver song "skinny love." I think it's guaranteed to please.

just remember, you'll always think you were "so young at that age" after you pass it. 26 is going to seem so young, carefree and the perfect age at some (older) point. (please repeat this back to me...i'm feeling a little jittery about turning 29!)

eeek. If it makes you feel better, I'm 27, and it only feels like life keeps getting better with each passing year... but the creeping upwards still gives me a touch of anxiety when I think about it.

i had such a hard time w/ 26- it totally took me by surprise and I had to process being that number. 27 was much easier and now I feel totally excited abut my late 20s and entering 30 in 3yrs!

i'm going to be 27 this year. wow. i still feel 20. maybe even 18 sometimes.

i am 27 now, and i always say i'm in my late 20s. but now that you mention it, i like tom's way of thinking. from now on i'm going to claim to be in my mid-20s again until i'm 28. thanks, tom. you just added a year to my life. ;)

I tend to feel in the lead-up like each new age is going to be a hamstring-pulling lunge forward that couldn't possibly feel natural. But once I reach it I think, "Yes, this is right, I am definitely not -- anymore, I am --." We change so much without noticing. No matter how we ignore it Time takes us by the hand and leads us to our future, which is what we're all looking forward to anyway.

oh shush. you don't seem like an old fart, so that's what matters :)

oh, shush. You're young and beautiful and full of life.

Oh God turning 25-26 is hard. I remember that. I'm turning 30 in three weeks and I cannot wait. By the time you get out of your 20s you will be so, so ready for it, and ready to let that decade go.

i had this convo with jb just last night. i said i was in my late twenties... he said you're in your mid twenties. I think he was just trying to make me feel better.

26 was one of the very best years of my life and i pray it is for you too. you deserve it.

I hear you. That'll be me in a few months. We can support each other, hold hands as we go over the hill! Ha It's not going to be that bad, right?

I just turned 26 a few weeks ago (the first of my peer friends to hit the milestone). I felt so old until I was surrounded by new friends a decade+ more mature than me and I felt like I was SO young... so, it's all relative.

(unless of course you are like me and consider moving back to Texas, in which case we're going to be old maids and maybe we can be friends and talk about our cats together?)

just you wait. until 3-1. it hurts. it hurts bad.

I turn 27 on Tuesday and I feel your pain, sister! I think the hardest part, for me, is realizing that my life is completely different than I'd imagined it would be when I was younger!

i'm coming up on 27. and my old-man husband (jk steve, you're not old) keeps reminding me im almost to my 30s. gahh.

oh man I hear ya! turning 26 this year stopped me suddenly thinking-I haven't done anything with myself! It feels like I should be so much more accomplished or serious. But I'm choosing to not believe it. I'm holding out to feel old until 35; we'll see how that works...

I just turned 30--yikes! You never feel as old as the number, and 27 was one of my favorite ages ever. So don't fret--lots of good is yet to come!
