rob spent some time doing a show in germany last year and shared with me that they often refer to frankfurt as mainhatten because it's the only city in the country with skyscrapers (and because it's located on the main river). i think it's a tremendously clever play on words so this edition of my manhattan will be entitled in that same spirit.
wednesday night found the two of us swing dancing (where i was too busy doing the lindy hop to snap any photos) followed by a lovely walk in riverside park. the weather was heaven-sent: cool and crisp-- one could smell the lushness of the northeast. it was one of those nights that reminded me why it is often in the dead of summer, late in the evening when the city has thinned and settled, that i am most in love with new york and all its offerings.

How clever!!
that sounds so beautiful and lovely. The pictures are wonderful and the cool and crisp summer night is downright enviable...
and now i need a vacation. hopping on the first greyhound to come see all this with my own eyes.
I adore the "Minehatten." Maybe I'll start doing this with Boston, though I'm not sure there's a clever way to say "My Boston" :)
This lindy hopping sounds fantastic!
dear meg,
i am heinously, snobbishly picky about what i read on the internet. [there are books to be read, you know? and i only have so much time.] and yet, i consistently come back to your stand-out voice as a writer. i genuinely hope you are pursuing outlets for it beyond this blog- or will someday. writer to writer, i really think you are something special.
xo and chin up, em
I had you swooning...and now you have me doing the same thing! Let's switch locations for a little bit? =)
You really show a different side of NYC then what is normally shown... i like it. It makes it look more livable...which in turn, makes me want to live there even more.
oh meg, your photos always stun me. so gorgeous.
I just wanted to tell you that I have fallen in love with your blog.
Reading it is soo inspiring! I don't know but somehow you have the ability to express things that I feel, but can not articulate. This is really amazing.
Wow it looks gorgeous! I'll have to add it to my list of future places to visit! I especially love the last photo... I'd quite like to live there!
And thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment, it always brightens my day :)
um...why don't u date this rob guy? :)
Meg, I have to tell you how much I love the clarity in your photos. A shallow depth of field is so common these days - but I love getting to see the whole scene.
YESSSS That's exactly what we call it! The only place with the real skyscrapers :-) I live 4 hours south of Frankfurt :-) Have a fun summer weekend!
Aww, I want to be able to write about New York like that!! Seriously, I'm coming to visit SOON.
that's when i fall in love with it too.
your photos are just beyond gorgeous. i'm going to go lurk around for a faq and hope i figure out what camera you use.
