hands and fingers (knees and toes).

i'v been having this fantasy of late.

about having my hand held.

but it's not so simple as that.

its about the two hands cupping each other, fitting the one into the other.

but even that's not the whole of it.

it's that moment, when two strangers or two friends walk side by side and one hand makes the decision to reach for the other. when the fingers tentatively connect to skin, the slow crawl to palm, and the eventual grasp. all while the two people, now something more than strangers, something more than friends, walk together, heads up, forward-looking. it's the eventual glance down. the tightening of the grip. the passed mutual touch.

it's the transformation that such a small act demands.

yup, i've been dreaming of having my hand held. and of meeting a man courageous enough to reach. (or worth reaching for.)

my friend kaitlyn maintains that handholding is more special than kissing.

sometimes i think she's right.

the beatles had it right. "i want to hold your hand" is the perfect love song. there's something so intimate about it. i've been dreaming about holding my [deployed] boyfriend's hand too- i know exactly how you feel.

the ultimate test in a relationship is to disagree but still hold hands! i forgot where i read that but so true!

I've always believed that when you find a hand that fits yours, you might have found "the one." (It worked for me and my husband. I'll never forget the first time he held my hand... I was SO nervous, but it was the nicest hand-holding I'd ever exprienced.)

I have that same dream, lady! It's such a simple thing but oh-so meaningful in my mind. xoxo And we'll get that. We will.

beautiful :) my parents still hold hands all the time and i've always thought it was the most incredible marker of love, more so than kissing or anything words could say.

awww that is sooooo sweet. I am missing the big hands that always finds its way to mine, fingers laced and keeping my hands warm. I am missing my boyfie after reading this post of yours.

He'll reach one day soon--but you're right: he so has to be worth reaching for--and especially so to deserve the treasure that you are and are continually becoming. This is beautiful. I often get such a warmth when I see other couples holding hands--or a hand reaching for the small of someone's back--or an arm caressing the curve of someone's shoulders. There is such unrelenting tenderness in it we so often neglect to see elsewhere. You're such a beautiful writer.

Every time my hand is held, I feel safe... I know it may sound obvious but it is deeper than that.

i had an entire dream about a hand-hold one time. it was in black and white, and you couldn't see any faces. the whole thing was focused on those two hands, one reaching for the other, across a couch. it was about that moment.

Lately I've been dreaming of the same thing. When I awoke the next morning I thought it strange. But your words have convinced me different. I believe I'm craving the same.

This inspires me to take in the moment when my hand is held. I don't think I do that enough.

I feel the exact same way as of late. And I think it's coming and coming soon. I just have a feeling. Half the battle is being open to the possibility...

Oh man, I'm gonna have to print this out and carry it around. It's just how I've been feeling.
I read an article recently, about what one couple recommends as one of the things they do to stay so connected... they fall asleep holding hands. Every night. Isn't that the sweetest?

i'm in the same boat right now. soon, at least that is what i keep telling myself.

i must be extra emotional this week but this made me tear up. such a simple, often abused act. so many couples hold hands just to hold hands. you date, so that's what you're supposed to do. ive had that. but i long for what you described. amazing writing lovely girl, as always!

You know it's right when just holding hands is enough.

Yes I want this so bad. The handhold is one of the most intimate touches, in my opinion. So gentle, romantic, and powerful all at the same time.
