tuscan view

it should be noted that when we moved into our apartment a year ago i began calling the bathroom our etruscan tuscan wonderland. yes, yes, i know etruscan and tuscan pretty much mean the same thing. yes, yes i know that makes it repetitive. but i care not. with all the sand colored stone and strange, circular, tiled design  it deserves to be named. twice.

just the other day i found myself taking a shower with the window open and i thought, this is so nice. almost like i'm bathing al fresco. in italy. okay, well not in italy, but al fresco nonetheless.

it took me a good five minutes to realize that the view i was so enjoying of the blue sky and other apartment windows was not without a cost.  if i could see others milling about through their windows well then they could see me. showering. naked. exposed.

needless to say i will not be showering with the window open again.

It sounds lovely, nonetheless!

I love the window open and seeing the blue sky and feeling the fresh air. Perhaps you could just crack your window to feel the breeze still without having yourself exposed. maybe, just maybe. :)

this is sort of exactly how i picture new york city (i know! i've never been!). little views like this are my favorite thing about chicago, and they do tend to evoke a european nostalgia, so you can't be too far off with your idea about bathing in italy. thanks for the glimpse into your shower;)

Showers with windows in them have always confused me. I had an apartment in Fargo, N.D., with a full-size window smack-dab in the middle of the shower stall. The glass was clear and the frame was wood -- i.e., completely see-through and highly susceptible to rot. I mean, what was the point of that?!

Regardless, I'm glad you enjoyed your few minutes of "freedom." :)

Despite the creep factor, I've always wanted to shower or bathe with the window open on a nice, breezy summer day.

...that could have been one of the best views new york has on offer!

I love a good outdoor shower! Thankfully our bathroom looks out to our backyard so I can shower with the window open to my hearts content!

You could put a lightweight sheer cotton curtain up in the window for the summer. It would cover up the open window enough that you'd be comfortable. Because it's lightweight dry it would dry quickly in the open window once you were out of the shower. I saw this in Italy in a pensione that I stayed in.

Ohhh the NY bathroom window, it's so nice to have. I agree with Christine, get a little sheer curtain and enjoy the fresh air.

So funny! Yesterday Hubby and I were looking at apartments and lofts from a bench down town and I was telling him that I would definitely be the girl naked in front of my windows all the time. {and to this I got a 'look'} I'm sure I would have done the same thing as you... There's something so freeing about being nudy in the open air and light... ha!

Hi. When I read this: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=15115774, I totally laughed remembering your post on the shower window.

Lol - oh well. I'm sure there are stranger things people have seen in NYC. If anyone did see you, they probably didn't think twice about it.
