for today, a thought.

"Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them - if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry."

Catcher in the Rye

it isn't education. it's history. of course. we learn from our own. we learn from others. and we continue on.

Meg, I know you love Jonathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.
There's another book, The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak.
An young adult novel.
But, oh my, does he have a way with words, too.

Amazing thought for the day--it's all about perspective, no?
Thanks.

I have been looking in for about a month now. I really enjoy your posts and the general layout of your blog.

My pleasure meg, my absolute pleasure. When I read it, I took such comfort from it and thought you might too. It's such a good way of looking at life and dealing with what comes your way.

It's funny how this old blogging malarky works - sometimes you read/see something and immediately think 'such and such' would like that, even though you've never met.

oh my gosh this is so helpful. My boyfriend of 2 years and 7 months broke up with me yesterday out of the blue and I'm so broken. This really did help. It was like a little beacon of hope.
