humble offerings.

la souffle au coeur

"A leaf fluttered in through the window this morning, as if supported by the rays of the sun, a bird settled on the fire escape, joy in the task of coffee, joy accompanied me as I walked."

the air here feels--smells like october in texas. i have just a week left in utah before i head home (to where the buffalo rome) and then onward to new york. life is simultaneously crawling and hurtling. time is pliable, like taffy, stretching in all directions at once. and if find myself thankful for the little things. like cool autumn air.

i've not been a great blogger this summer. i know this. but sometimes things are hard. hard in a way that writing does not assuage or elucidate. hard in a way that privacy becomes necessary. so forgive me. please, forgive me. i'm learning, you know? and i'll get better.

suck in those mountains and that air...it is so wonderful! As a Texan who has just come home from years in Colorado they are missed. At least you can still get a scorching tan when you get here! :)
love your blog!

I like that you used "assuage". It's one of my favorite words. "Elucidate" is a good one too! I will have to start using that more. :)

You are doing just fine meg. there is such amazing quality in your words that you never need to apologize for the quantity.

And being stuck in this Texas heat I can't help be very, very jealous of any mention of cool breezes.

you are forgiven. although, sorry, but i think you've been a great blogger this summer. you've been living your life first, and writing second, which is what makes your blog so worth reading to begin with. that's how it should be. a great rabbi told me today that the biggest struggle in today's generation is failing to see our own greatness.

p.s. when you get the chance, though, I would love to read your thoughts on the character of Juliet or on the play in general...

p.s. incase you did not know this while reading your blog sometimes (by that i mean all the time) i wish i was your sister !

Autumn is my most favorite season. All it takes is one brisk Fall night in the city, and I fall in love all over again. You're almost there!

no judgement from this end on being an 'absent' blogger. I think I last posted in june and then life just got way too complicated and upsetting and as you say "privacy (became) necessary". it's only in the past 2 weeks that i have even been reading others blogs with the regularity I used to*.
so, I don't forgive you because there is nothing bad to forgive!
do what you have to do, and we'll be here to enjoy your words whenever you feel like sharing :)

*it's hard to read about other's 'charmed' lives (which often seem to be the focus of blogs- even my own, I must admit) when yours feels like it's circling the drain. so in this thought, I add that your honesty is always so welcomed and refreshing

i get it. lately i've been thinking of just making my blog a "for-my eyes only" effort.
