there's a corner store that my roommate amanda likes to go to when she's feeling homesick.
they carry maltas and all goya products. sugar candies and spanish coca-colas. and after just a moment she feels like she's back home in puerto rico.
i thought long and hard about where i can go when i'm feeling homesick for texas.

i love this post for so many reasons!!!
it was so weird to be at a dallas mavericks / san antonio spurs playoff game in an EMPTY sports bar. i missed texas so much and wished i had red ruby slippers that could have taken me to dallas.
i'll have to find me a baskin robbins ;)
you're so cute in this pic! i love the top and your up-do
This post makes me happy. It's important to have things that remind us of home, especially when we live far away, but even when we don't.
it is definitely no bluebell!
i don't think i've found my texas away from texas yet... i'll have to think about that.
oh, i really like mint chocolate chip! especially when it's green.
you know, my friend started a blog he hopes to fill with various people's writings about Texas: http://storiesfromtexas.blogspot.com
and I bet you could come up with something great to write about how your mind's eye sees that state!
How did I not know you're from Texas? Very cool, as is Baskin Robbins. Love it!
Is that mint chocolate chip?! Because if it is, I'm experiencing some major ice-cream envy, Meg Fee, since that's my fave flavor! lol
And can I just say, you always seem to have the cutest blouses EVER. I have blouse-envy too.
Time to make those reservations to come home for a visit.
Mmm.. love me some Baskin Robbins! Going there always takes me back to the days of my youth... lemon custard ice cream with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles.... sigh...
Now I am feeling a little homesick myself.
May have to go hit up the 31 favors (isn't it 31?) and see if it helps.
Ah, another Texas girl - I should have known there was a reason I feel like we're kindred spirits. :) I love Bluebell but I think if i ever left Texas I'd miss Tex-Mex the most.
My brother in law is now in Houston, and he thinks the bluebell is only sub-par! Heresy I say! The only ice cream that I think compares is Haagen daz...mmm. I also associate whataburger with Texas...any of those in New York? :)
That is absolutely gorgeous.
I wish there was a Baskin Robbins where I live.
I hope it worked for you... on several levels!
oh goya... my puerto rican family puts adobo on everything :)
baskin robbins is certainly no bluebell but hopefully it will sustain you until your next trip home.
mmmm, i definitely miss bluebell.
such a lovely {and yummy lol} post!!
hmmm...the closest "home" thing I have found in Switzerland has been Starbucks and Orell Füssli (both found north of my canton/"state").
Orell Füssli is a bookstore, like a Barnes and Noble. Where I live we only have small bookstore- not really conducive to sitting for hours, drinking coffee, and reading books you have no intention of buying, so Orell Füssli is the place I go for this!! (and it has a starbucks in it, what a novel idea!...for switzerland anyways, since they aren't allowed where I live)
yum. that ice cream looks good :D
before bluebell was brought to georgia, my great-uncle would bring it to me from texas. he kindly pack it in dry ice and we'd devour it one the way home from the airport. ahh memories.
mmm. bluebell... texas girls know good ice cream!
