i'm feeling a little ...
hmm...
i don't know what i'm feeling this morning.
my ears are itching. allergies have taken hold.
my parents leave for morocco today. i wish i was with them.
i am missing home desperately.
and i'm scared.
(huh.
yup, that's it.
that's what i'm feeling).
overwhelmed by life itself.
oh, did i tell you that i'm leaving new york for the summer?
for three months.
i'm headed to a land many of you might have heard of:
utah?
yes, utah.
i'm going to find out about a life.
but more on that later.
for now i'm just thankful for meaningful breakfasts.
meaningful breakfasts are a better attempt at equilibrium than anything else i can think of (today at least).

Utah? Good for you for being brave to wander! I am interested to hear more if you choose to write about it. Utah is a peaceful and beautiful place (and much different than nyc).
What's in Utah?! I've been feeling overwhelmed too, and breakfast seems to be the one thing sure about my days lately!! 1/2 whole wheat english muffin, 1 egg, spring mix, and 1 veggie (better than it sounds) sausage link. Hopefully I'll be having this breakfast from NYC starting this summer ;)
Cheer up!
I live in Utah! And I love it for many reasons. I have come to have my local 'haunts', my favorite food joints, and have made lasting friends here.
I too am gearing up to move at the end of the summer to LA...permanently. Quite a difference from little ol' Utah! And you know what? I'm scared too. I've never really felt so scared, alone, and really so sad about moving. Yet I am. But then again, I also realize that life goes on, and no matter where I am, I'm still me, Heather. And that will only change if I let it.
I find it amazing that there are people all over the world who don't even know each other, yet face similar struggles. Good luck!
I'm eating spaghetti for breakfast.
Not too breakfasty I suppose.
But delicious nonetheless.
don't allow fear to overwhelm you. feel it. acknowledge it. and conquer it! You are where you are meant to be! whenever doubtful thoughts enter your mind---think about that fact.
the breakfast looks amazing.
Oh Utah. I live in Utah. Born and raised. If you need any tips or advice on activities I would be happy to share.
Now if only we could trade places for the summer. New York is one of my favorite cities ever. But you can't beat the recreation here in Utah. It would be hard for me to trade the mountains in my backyard for hiking, biking, boating... oh I love Utah summers. I can't wait to hear the details of what you will be doing here.
utah! that's awesome! i didn't totally love it while going to school there, but now when i go back and visit, i really do love it.
I'm a Utahn, too. It's so lovely here.
Breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day, and this looks delish. Congrats on getting out of the city for a while! It'll give you some peace and quiet to figure everything out.
Yay Utah!
I think that you always put what I am feeling into words, and I appreciate that.
I hope you enjoy your summer out here.
Utah and breakfast:
Two of my favorite things.
If you are coming to Salt Lake try:
Ruth's Diner
Blueplate Diner
Eggs in the City (and)
The Park
Best breakfast joints in Salt Lake.
This state is wonderful. If you have any questions about this great state, what to do, where to hang... feel free to email. Good luck.

Hooray for change!
While you're here you definitely need to check out all of the outdoorsy goodness like Arches, Mount Timpanogos, and Zion's National Park. Beeee-youtiful.
And on the subject of being scared... not really knowing anything about you apart from what you've written on your blog, I would say you're an incredibly brave person. To be as candid as you are with your readers is not the way of a small or weak person. But sometimes it's hard to convince ourselves that we're good or strong or capable, so we need reminders from other people.
And... Morocco?! I'm completely jealous of your parents. I've wanted to go there for years.
that breakfast looks amazing, and I second Sarah who says she's jealous of your parents! I'm dying to go to Morocco. One day, right?
Have fun in Utah and finding out about life. Enlighten us along the way if you can!!
<3
breakfast is much more important to starting a day right than i realize most of time. you're spread looks amazing - enjoy!
I don't know why you are going to Utah but I hope you find what you are looking for. This morning I ate my breakfast on my front porch admiring the mountains and writing in my journal of the things I hope to find in myself this summer while spending it in Utah. You will love it and we will love having you! Thanks for sharing as always.
I absolutely adore your thoughts - and relate oh so much.
I'm a Utah girl, or a Utah girl am I. Welcome welcome welcome!
:)
So curious where you'll be staying in Utah! I'm a Utah girl myself.
To echo all other Utahns' or Utah resident's comments, I'm curious what brings you here :) If you're looking for good restaurants in Provo, (or someone to go to lunch with :)) lemme know!
Life can be overwhelming. And sometimes that means that things are just about to get exciting. And exciting in a good way :)
Utah! I have realized that I really do love it here. So much. I hope you like it.
one day at a time :) i love your blog.. you are gorgeous! also, that breakfast... divine. xo!
I grew up in Salt Lake! I am very curious about what you'll be doing there. It can be so very lovely.
if you need a friend while you are in Utah let me know! And your breakfast looks lovely :)
I am from Utah! I'm excited for you to come and find out about a life. I hope you enjoy it. I think it's wonderful here, but it is my home so I may be somewhat biased.
yay for Utah!!! summer is the best here. i hope you have a blast.
I completely understand the scared feeling. I lived in NY for a while (Queens!) and now I'm living in Utah, going to college. It's scary, but it's fun at the same time! Plus, the mountains are beautiful. That was the first thing I noticed. :]
Utah is a great state. Excited to hear more about this life you're going to find out more about. Utah is a lovely place, with lovely people.
I hope you enjoy Utah! I would love to hear why you are venturing out our way! It is a beautiful state!
Your blog is so great! I love knowning that there is someone else out there who feels the same as me! If you need a friend in Utah, or a tour-guide, I would love to meet you!
i have allergies too; that food looks great!
Meg, you are phenomenally lovely inside and out. Thank you for describing the feelings in my heart in such vivid colors. Par for the comments on this post, but Utah really is a wonderful place. I've loved living here. If you ever need a tour guide, Utah advice or just a friend, I would love to meet you. We don't have Bluebell, nevertheless, sometimes a gallon of ice cream is all you need. :)
look at all these comments! did you know you had so many utah readers??
we will be switching places this summer - i'm from Utah and I'll be in the city for the summer. here's to adventure, eh?
and thanks again for writing/sharing, i really do love reading your blog!
meg, i'm super intrigued! i left new york already, am back i texas now... but i'm actually going to utah this summer as well. wouldn't it be funny if we were there at the same time and finally met up there of all places? i want so much to hear about why you're going and what's brewing in your life...
Sounds like a lot of us are from Utah that read your blog :) I'm also from Utah, the northern part. Bear Lake is awesome in the summer (gotta get a raspberry shake while there), LD's Cafe in Richmond (right before the Idaho border) is my husband and I's favorite place for breakfast...If you need recommendations feel free to ask!
Provo, eh? If you get in the mood for some ghetto whilst in Utah, I'm in Ogden :)
Utah?
anything to do with the LDS life?
just askin'.
(I'm from Texas.)
anonymous,
no actually, going to find out about an artists life. i will reveal more in time, but there are two things i find myself unable to ever write about, one of which is theatre.
i hope utah ends up treating you right. i know i've found healing in new places, totally different from what i'm used to, and i'm excited to hear about all the good things that come out of your summer. like everyone else, i'd love to help out as a tour guide. i live a little south of salt lake. best of luck!!
You know what? I like you. And Utah. But mainly you are just entertaining.
ok I am totally behind because the ethiopian internet blocks blogger.
UTAH! yes come you will love it there!
I'm pretty sure I'm getting out of Utah in about 6 weeks. I AM SO HAPPY. But I hope you have a fabulous summer there!
Oh Meg! I am thrilled to hear you'll spend some time in Utah. After 6 years in the state, it will always remain one of my favorite places on the planet. I hope you find great happiness.
