saturday's thought

I must learn to love the fool in me--the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my fool.

Theodore I. Rubin, MD

thanks to Jeneec from my home state of Texas for this!

That's my favourite quote too...And the quest of my life I suppose. :)

Perfect quote. Our respective fools make us beautiful and vulnerable and interesting. I'm so glad you shared this!

thanks for the quote! I think I needed that one. Sometimes it's so easy to shut off your true self around others, and when you do that you cheat yourself and you end up cheating them too. Life is so much better when you just let loose!

Ah...reading that pretty much sums me up. I actually wouldn't mind the tyrant sometimes....(:

*love* this -- I've been all over the place lately (literally, we just got in from Houston earlier this afternoon to meet with more family in our home town of Austin!), and I've been so hard on myself lately -- this quote is *perfect*! Thanks for sharing -- I'm totally sharing this too!
