25 before 25

Inspired by the amazing Carolyn over at My Thirty Before 30 Journey, I decided to make my own list. I said I needed a change? Well, it's in my hands to make it happen. My half birthday is April 4, so I have a year and a half to begin these--to make them a priority. I've lost sight of how much fun goals can be (I say this now, we'll see how I feel three months, six months, a year from now {though I have a feeling I'm going to love these--how hard some of them are--how much of a challenge they'll present})

1. take a trip abroad
2. read 25 new books
3. fall in love with running
4. give up soda and coffee (and yes, that mean's saying goodbye to starbucks)
5. figure out how to get some swimming into my life
6. host a dinner party
7. finally start a book club (stop talking about it and just do it)
8. get a job that i truly love (even if it's only temporary)
9. see the elephants walk through manhattan
10. see the yankees play in the new stadium
11. explore and document different nyc neighborhoods
12. write a little. every day. stretch those creative muscles.
13. choose 15 of shakespeare's great female monologues. disect them. figure them out.
14. speak a little poetry--a little shakespeare out loud every day
15. improve my spanish speaking skills
16. stop buying tabloid magazines
17. unleash my inner fashion mavin
18. lower my cholesterol
19. figure out what my happy weight is
20. eat at least five fruits and veggies each day
21. treat my body with the respect it deserves
22. get my finances in order
23. become a real--working--professional actor
24. say goodbye to ned. for good.
25. fall in love

What would you put on your list? Do you all have any suggestions?

Your list is pretty darn good.
I made this my own motto, and one of my life goals, and maybe you'll see some light in it (as it worked for me):

You have to love yourself FIRST to ever begin loving someone else.

It took approx. 19 years of my life to learn that this is true (for me anyways). I don't think I could ever love my boyfriend, or anyone else for that matter, if I didn't truly love myself first. My reasons might be different from yours, of course, but maybe to accomplish falling in love everyone should ask themselves "Wait. Do I love myself? Yes, I do. Ok. Now I can fall in love with someone else."

Anywho, that's just my motto.
=)
Take it any way you want...

p.s. Thanks for stopping by. ;0)

You're such a good writer one of your goals should be getting a published. A poem, short story, short memoir, etc. You could definitely do it!

your list is great. i made one for the month of february and got about half of the things done--i was sort of happy with that! your list looks extremely realistic and i wish you the best. i too would like to accomplish number 1, 8, and a yankees game would be a lot of fun! Let me know if you need help with spanish--i speak it!

good luck! xoxoxo

i just heart your list!

i have tried to cultivate a love of #3 many times. but goodness, running can be a fickle friend indeed! and as to #16 we all need a little escape from "real life" every once in a while! i heart those gossip mags.

your blog is truly lovely, i find myself coming back to visit all the time! it's wonderful!

read 25 new books (this is a great one, I love reading!)

fall in love with running (this is hard to do, but you can! My back HATES running, but I shhhhush those voices)

give up soda and coffee (That will be so healthy for you)

host a dinner party (I did this and it was so fun)

finally start a book club (Once again, I love this idea. I want to be in your club!)

see the elephants walk through manhattan (why, oh why do they do this? Can't wait to hear more)

see the yankees play in the new stadium (GO YANKS!!)

improve my spanish speaking skills (yo soy un gringa, pero yo entiendo espanol mas que yo hablo. My accento no esta bueno)

stop buying tabloid magazines (my mom always said, "trash in, trash out!" and I suppose its true)

figure out what my happy weight is (you're perfect when you're happy, this will be so benificial to find out)

become a real--working--professional actor (Then I will know someone famous, AUSSUM)

fall in love (is it too late for me to add this to my list??)

I love it.
You inspire me.
Thank you.

funny thing... my half b-day is april 3rd, and i have a year and a half until i'm 25. almost twinners :) i am currently working on my own list of things i want to get done... and #3 "fall in love with running" is my main goal right now. I think you should sign up for a race (10k, 1/2 marathon...etc) because then you will actually have to work at it so you don't look or feel the fool on race day. This is the ONLY thing that has helped me get into a better running habit. And, i am almost to the point of liking and needing running.

and i will visit Spain, buy my own house, and write more by 25.

i love goals.

good luck to you on yours.

I've been reading your blog for a bit, and I totally am going to do this. I love goals too, and have 22 months to meet them (whatever they may be). I, too, would love to host a dinner party, find my happy weight, and take some more trips abroad.

Lovely goals indeed.
