there is but one magnolia tree where i live.

and returning home tonight after a fifteen hour day it was all of the sudden in bloom.

full bloom. perfect and pink and full against the darkening sky--april and its promise of rain.

april and its gift of rain.

and green.

and trees in bloom.

i never understood spring until i moved to new york.

but i'm pretty sure if there is a meaning to this life, it has very much to do--everything to do--with the cycle of trees and how when spring arrives the leaves come back.

Beautiful! I'm so jealous, it is autumn here and although it is pretty in it's own way there is nothing like a cherry blossom. XX

Lovely! But it's not a cherry blossom tree, it's a magnolia tree :p I love the white ones best!

Ah man.. this makes me miss Portland terribly. There was a huge Magnolia at my apartment that was insanely beautiful like this one.

p.s. that "day by day, old joy comes back to me" has been running through my head for months. I love that you had someone make a poster for you. I need one in my life right now..
