"you learn how to love, by loving yourself. because some days it comes easily, and some days its much harder than it should be. you learn that love is patience. and overwhelming kindness. that love is acceptance and forgiveness and the strength to try again tomorrow. and if you can't love yourself in that way that is whole and broken and completely exhausting, then you have no hope at ever loving another living soul."

You don't understand how much I needed to read this. In fact, your words - daily - make me feel all sorts of ways that I usually escape from (true understanding and knowledge of myself). Thank you for writing each day. Your words have such an impact.

I love this, feelings never evolve. It is that whole nature versus nurture thing. .... so when someone has been mistreated their entire life. Love for self is not going to spring up and just flourish. Buildings never erect themselves. I guess what I am saying is, to be on the receiving end of mistreatment for too long yields not self love. Girls don't fall in love with the boys who always pulled their piggy tails, even if it did mean that they secretly liked you. It is just the way life goes. I guess that my Prince Charming will arrive gallantly one day, and take me out to all the places I have never been, thrill me with his intelligent banter of all of his well-travelled life. Only then will the ice melt, the bricks come down. Until then.....
