week three of this new year: january 15-21

this is the week i put on my suede pumps, colored my lips red and finally took in lincoln center's production of war horse. (it really is as stunning as they say--if you find yourself in new york, you must see it). this is the week i took in a lot of liquids--trading coffee and tea for warm noodle soup. (yes, that's right. this is the week i attempted to cut back on coffee consumption!). this is the week that after five weeks of not feeling well, i slowly started to lose my mind--began rubbing vic's vapo rub on my face (yes, you read that right), applying other salves to heal the tell-tale red just under my nose from where the tissue has marked the skin. this is the week i began dreaming of paris in the spring. may, perhaps? this is the week when new york got cold in a way that made me question if i'd actually survive this winter. truth be told? jury's still out.

Well, despite the weather you still sound like you've had an interesting week! I hope you feel better soon and keep up the coffee reduction! I'm on day seven of NO coffee or chocolate and I have managed to survive... It's a miracle I tell you because I truly LOVE LOVE coffee.

I LOVE your mint suede pumps!

I love coffee too... and have been thinking of cutting back but honestly I can't really think of a good enough reason. Is it that bad for you?? I dunno... to cut it out I'll have to be REALLY motivated & I can't find that motivation just now!

I love the red lipstick on you; it really suits.

Aw, feel better soon dear! I love your red mittens though, the picture is just too great! I'm right there with you trying to slowly but surely cut out the majority of my coffee intake.

I hope you feel better soon! Ugh. England has such a bizarrely warm winter this year that I have somehow CRAVED the cold. Paris in Spring? I am jealous!

I love your blog and never seem to comment but your words often bewitch me, comfort me and sometimes I think we may be the same person (not to be creepy). I am in love with your words and am so happy to have found your blog!

If you do go to Paris I can tell you some of the best places to eat and give you some good places for night life! Lived there for a year and it was the best experience EVER! Hope you make it there!

One of my favorite Lebanese hole-in-the walls is Au Vieux Cedre (Rue Blainville)- I literally sometimes dream of getting on a plane just to go get food from this place and if you walk further up into the square there is a bar called The Wall that I also used to frequent! I have many more local places if you need any suggestions!

Cheers!
Jessica

hi meg! paris in may is highly recommended. having been to paris earlier in the spring, let me tell you- it's bloody freezing! and try to stay in somebody's apartment. the marais is a lovely neighborhood and i think you'd like the feel of it (but it could be a bit $$) :) and you MUST go to mamie gateaux (and afterwards go to the "grocery store" at bon marche and load up on yummies! then you can go upstairs and buy something beautiful for yourself)

I'll be in New York with my mom in a few weekends, so I'll have to let her know about War Horse. I've heard nothing but rave reviews!

Paris in the spring? Lucky, lucky you.

I was in Paris last year at the end of April and the beginning of May. It's the perfect time to go - warm enough to wander in a trench (or cardigan) and to picnic on bridges. You're also there before the main tourist season which is lovely as there's less time waiting in lines.

I'm dreaming of Paris in May too but I won't be going this year ((sigh))
