i was meant to take the 6:30 am bus saturday morning. the 6:30 am bus to boston. to spend a day-and-a-half with my mother and brother as my mom made her way back from london via a brief few days in beantown.

at 6:40 i woke up in a panic. what day is it? where am i? what's going on?

i was safely in my bed on 181st street. and the bus was just gone.

i eventually got there. took a later bus. endured the traffic. was rewarded with twenty-four hours in the land where paul revere and every other great patriot once resided.

it wasn't much time and we were all of us tired. but long walks through the back bay area and south side, dinner at a the french restaurant, gaslight, and getting to see my brother taste ben & jerry's for the very first time made it all worth it.

of course i didn't get home till 1 am last night and i'm now off to an 8:20 dermatologist's appointment. yes, i too am wondering about my ability to manage time and plan for future events. why did i schedule my time as such? who knows? what made me think i could make that 6:30 bus? oh heck if i know.

happy monday. xo.

great photos, I too always miss scheduled bus times, I blame it on being nocturnal :)

i'm just stuck on the fact that it was your brother's first time eating ben and jerry's. i don't understand.

Yayy to your brother for eating B&J's for the first time, I hadn't lived until I tried my first spoon of chunky monkey ice cream.

Well, my roomate missed her flight back home because she slept in... she bought another ticket for the same day.... got there late.... and ended up buying a third ticket, and told her parents that the Airline was running late.... So needless to say, she's been teased ever since!

Your trip sounds great!! xo

His first time tasting Ben & Jerry's?? Makes me want some Chunky Monkey right now!

Bostom seems like a beautiful place. Glad you had a good, if short, trip!

These pictures make me wish I was spending the day strolling along Newbury Street instead of stuck at my desk at work.

Your family and close relationship is so sweet. It sounds like a nice, quick visit, before going back to the grind of the real world.

lol I do this kind of stuff to myself all the time. It's silly.

Ah, Boston! My home, no matter where in the world I travel or live! I'm so glad you got to visit - and that you managed to make the later train, too.

Ooh Boston is very pretty! I hope to one day visit there too. :) I'm glad you at least got a little bit of time with your family, even if it wasn't as much as you'd originally planned!

Also, I've been realizing this year that I tend to do that to myself too - schedule an appointment or whatnot IMMEDIATELY after returning from somewhere. And of course, I'm always exhausted when I get back from my trip and wonder what on earth I was thinking! So now I've started to purposefully schedule at least 1/2 a day of NOTHING when I return from a trip. Makes life so much easier!

Boston has been on my list of places to go for a long, long time....this only makes me want to go even more. Whirlwind trips are at once exhausting and exhilarating.

And in case you don't see my reply to you on my post, OF COURSE you can repost! You don't even need to ask....I think as many people as possible should read that...and take it to heart, too! :)

oh meg, i so feel for you. most of my time in new york was spent forgetting what day it was, trying to make up for lost time, rushing, sleeping through my alarm. it's such an exhausting place to be, especially when you're trying to make ends meet.

boston does look gorgeous. i always meant to visit but never did. you're coming back to texas soon, right? taso and i are planning a trip to houston. wouldn't it be funny if we were there at the same time?

thank you for the kind birthday comment. you're such a lovely, gracious person and i feel lucky to know you.

Went to college in Boston and thought your pictures captured it beautifully!

Beautiful pictures, as usual. I always have to set several alarms, one right after another, if I have to wake myself up. However, one of the luxuries of still living at home is my parents notice if I'm not up and take it upon themselves to wake me up in any way they can think.

How old is your brother? Is he single? Tell him I wear pearl earrings and do my makeup like a true Texan girl...although I do lack any accent, the dismay of most people up here I meet...
