the other thing to know about the strapless dress discussion is that...
my mother approached the whole thing by saying the type of dress you wear to a family member's wedding differs from what you would wear to a friend's wedding.
you see, there may or may not have been a dress worn to a family wedding last year that not long after appeared on an episode of brothers and sisters as worn by...
...wait for it...
sally fields.
now don't get me wrong. i love me some sally fields. but she's the matriarch of the family. and has a good 35 years on me. at least.
needless to say the dress has not been worn again.
it should also be noted that my mother has been right about a few things in the past. namely concealer and hairbrush. who knew? those two things have revolutionized my life.

Haha!! I would love to see this dress!!!
Yes, please post pictures of the dress! Also, please share these concealer and hairbrush secrets.
Aren't mothers both awesome and annoying (usually in their rightness)?! Haha I've been getting a few comments about how to meet men from my mother lately - I just smile. Your blog is so great these days, meg! Keep up your awesome writing!!
"concealer and hairbrush" - awesome! i have yet to use those consistently, but they do seem to work miracles! :)
Haha the last line made me laugh.
My Dad told me I needed boots and bought them for me. I wore them on my first date with my husband. BAM.
(parents are sometimes right about these things and other times very laughable)
I also own a shirt worn by Sally Field on Brothers and Sisters. It's been a secret burning inside me for too long!
(i will not stop wearing it. even though i think about sally every time i pull it out of the closet.)
oh well.
It happens to the best of us love:)
I want to see a picture of this crazy dress! ;)
Ha! I loved the strapless dress story before but now I love it even more! And yes, moms have a funny way of being right about these things. And I probably don't use a hairbrush as often as my mother thinks is necessary...
