second listening.

when i was in high school the dixie chicks did a cover of landslide that was all over the radio. i remember i'd hear it driving to and from school and i didn't particularly care for it.

but listening to this today. to the slow melody and simplicity it of it, i hear it all so differently. i understand the words--both their heartbreak and hope. and in hearing it differently i am aware of how i am different--changed, more expansive.

how funny (or perhaps fitting) it is that something like a song can be a touchstone in our life. illuminating the space between and all the path already traversed.

ooh, wow. yes. when I hear this cover, I hear vulnerability. but, as you said, it's marbled with a certain hope. I can't get the purity of this vision out of my head now: a man, simply standing, marveling at his reflection on the most breathtaking of mountaintops- and then, seeing it all break away. and hoping that he'll still be innocent enough to yearn for another viewing. that he won't be tainted by the landslide, but eager for more somehow.

beautiful. thanks for sharing!

this is awesome! for some reason whenever my mom and i would have our reading time at night when i was in middle school, she'd always play the dixie chicks. now, whenever i read harry potter or other YA fiction i read voraciously comes to my attention in barnes and noble, all that comes to mind is this song.

oh, dixie chicks. so silly.

I hated the Dixie Chicks' version. Didn't Smashing Pumpkins cover it too? I feel like they did, and I really liked that one. This is super sweet though.

one of my all-time favorite songs but only when sung by stevie nicks. she is a goddess.

i grew up on good ole fleetwood mac. i can remember being young-- 9 maybe -- and hearing stevie nicks open the live version of this song with "this one's for you daddy", and just closing my eyes and being swept away by these words. i've long said, without hesitation, that this was my favorite song of all time.

love this rendition.

Totally!!! Sometimes it is like certain music comes to you in a certain season of life as though it is playing your own soundtrack and it always seems to fit so perfectly.

I've always loved this song. However, I probably started listening to it because my mom hates it! Funny how things work out like that :]

This is a good Fleetwood Mac cover, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcYT8TzUarI. totally different vibe, but good.

fleetwood mack reminds me of laying in my husbands room before we got married-while we were dating, and he had their record playing and was rubbing my feet. that's one of my favorite memories of when we dated.

great song.
