happy december 22.

my hair is pinned up in a faux bob this morning--an attempt to do something with last night's leftover curls. it's surely messy.

i'm off to do some christmas shopping. yup, i'm that girl. i'm so that girl. that girl. (in fact, i'm that girl who's now afraid she's just not gonna get it all done).

i have to work this christmas season so i'm stuck in new york. and i've been stuck in a bit of a funk as of late, but yesterday i had this sudden thought (i'll tell you about that later) and the funk has lifted and i'm left remembering that often the unconventional holidays are the most meaningful.

even if i'm not home, i'm with family. and holidays are about attitude, if nothing else.

so this morning i leave you with another head and the heart clip. i've been listening to them non-stop. i love this video because it just seem so darn joyous. imperfect and a little rough around the edges: human. pure light.

These guys are fantastic! I just listened to the other video of them you posted, too. They have a great sound.

Christmases spent away from family are different and at times difficult. Somehow I've always managed to find a way to have fun and appreciate the day. The holidays I get to spend with family are now that much sweeter. I hope your Christmas will be merry and bright, and add to the joy of future holidays.

Merry Christmas.

P.S. Thank you for your gift of writing honestly about your life.

spot on.

i'm not going home either. a terrible funk indeed, but i've made peace with it, and am going to create some awesome memories instead.

good luck with the shopping. i'll be the girl on christmas eve frantically trying to find something left.

Happy December 22! I've been in a bit of a funk as well, but seeing your post made me smile. Thanks for that! Have a good holiday weekend. :)

i understand, girl. i'm in the same boat. i only really got into the christmas spirit last night when i blew my entire paycheck on christmas gifts for my mother and brother, frantically rushing to get all my figurative ducks in a row. i too, have to work all throughout the season (and christmas! ah!) but i have christmas eve to watch movies and eat lots of things i'll regret later and that's all that matters. i hope the same to you and hope your holiday season shapes up to something lovely!

Do you listen to Ida Maria? I think you might love her, just as much as I do (and every 20-something woman should, I might add). Perfect "sock-to-wood-floor dancing" music, as you so eloquently (and accurately) put it.

I was so proud of myself this year... I got my Christmas shopping done in November for some odd reason... only to discover a week before Christmas that I'd forgotten one of the gifts I meant to get for my nephew... and that I still had to mail it out to California... so off to the store I rushed, looking for a present for him at the last minute and praying that my sister wouldn't mind getting this Christmas package late... again. Sigh... such is the life of a chronic procrastinator. Lol.
