today i went to the doctor's office in search of answers.

i found none.

nor did i find a tissue.

that's right, the doctor's office did not have tissues.

in the middle of cold and flu and h1n1 hysteria, not a tissue to be found.

can you imagine?

they offered me toilet paper or paper toweling.

and this doctor is supposed to be good, the head of female physicians in nyc.

the issue of tissue was the tip of the iceberg.

this is all to say...

i will not be returning. not ever. which i told them through tears as i {somewhat} stormed out of the office.

Sometimes I wonder if all Dr's find it hard to communicate effectively or sympathise.

i can relate, too! i'm going to the nyu gyno and that is one of the big reasons i'm terrified to go in for my biopsy. they are so insensitive and harsh. i'm sorry, meg. it's terrible to deal with something like that anytime, but especially when you're sick and need TLC.

yes! i love teary dramatic storm-outs! i haven't perfected the art myself...but that situation certainly called for one.

i'm sorry you're still feeling crummy, by the way.

What kind of a doctor's office doesn't have freaking tissues? I mean, it doesn't have to be Kleenex. It can be Puffs or an off-brand. But nothing?

Bullshit.

I support your storm-off and I hope you feel better without their dumbass toilet paper.

This is not at all funny, but the irony of this is dr's are meant to warm and comforting to our illness, and help us find answers. They are definitely not our mothers, but I hate going to the dr because they seem so cold and harsh. I'm sorry. I hope you feel better!!!

They didn't have a square to spare?? That's a crap doctor's office.

I work in cardiology {where people normally aren't sick,} and it's mandatory that we have anti bacterial spray and tissue at every station of the office! Come to Scottsdale! :)

that is crazy ridiculous! I usually just float in and out of the dr. and try not to let anything affect me...however the bulk of my experience is from the verrrry interesting public inner city "doc in a box" clinic my college used to send us to. bad times ha. I hope you find a friendlier (and more sanitary) place!

I hope you snotted all over the place.

That'll show 'em.

Feel better!

I'm glad you left...I worked in health care for years and it was so surprising to me the amount of people that put up with bad doctors, bad staff, unclean environments, etc. You're paying for it, yanno?

I hope you feel better SOON!

Meg,
I left the doctor's in tears today, too. Oh, it seems that we are living parallel lives here. Can we make next week all about being in love and being at the top of our game and just being giddy with confidence and happiness? Pretty please.

oh, i'm so sorry they made you feel that way! i think doctors easily forget how scary the whole process can be.
hope you feel better soon!

I don't get doctors these days at all. So many are completely unhelpful and uncaring. Oh, and the office staff, don't get me started. I recently left my own doctors office vowing that I would never, ever return.

You live in NY--my old doctor is in Belleville, NJ and is the sweetest, kindest woman you'll ever meet. If you don't mind the drive (a pain in the butt, I know...) she would take great care of you. Her name is Dr. Deborah Schnurr. I'm actually going to give up on doctors out here in PA and go back to her, even though it's an 1 1/2 hr. drive for me.

Just a thought in case you don't find anyone to your liking in the city...

Hang in there, not all medical professionals are weenies. I know, I'm a nurse :)

Hope your feeling better real soon!

so sad! hopefully you'll start to feel better each day now and you won't even need a doctor.

Aw I'm so sorry. Not getting an answer from doctors when you know something is wrong is one of the worst feelings ever.
Don't worry, I've left many an office in tears before. You'll find an answer.
