Haha, I hope so too! It's so important to laugh, a lot. At my New Years dinner I started cracking up like crazy with a friend, and we just couldn't stop, it's so much fun when that happens.. And jokes are really hard to tell, I always mess up, make them too long to the point where they're just not funny anymore, haha.. Oh well. Happy New Year!

Happy new year!!
Your post about the call of the Father was incredibly intriguing to me because we spent the last week in Mexico and I was in so many dark and damp, old churches. The New Year's Eve mass at 10 pm was like a fantasy of lights and smells.

I pray you travel safe to NY.
(I especially like that Marilyn Monroe quote.)

Cuernavaca! Seriously? The world is so small, I studied there last spring (Jan-April.) Didn't you love that town? I really enjoyed being in Cuernavaca so we chose Querétaro because it's also a colonial town... no Cancun or resorts for me either.

Love your resolution. I'm in the same boat with the jokes...but more along the line of remembering the jokes and not butchering them:)

Happiest 2010

cheese? really? i'll take any chance to eat cheese.

i actually learned most of my spanish in cuernavaca! (i'd love it if you could remember what street you lived on. i lived on compositores.) i went to a spanish school when i was little but i forgot most of it and decided i wanted it back, hence the study abroad.

last thing, i wanted to suggest a book to you titled "Living the Christian Year." It's all about the liturgical calendar and how to integrate it into your life. The book doesn't go into the history of the prostration and such (as you mentioned your curiosity) but it does talk a lot about how we got our calendar and I for one am a fan of life rhythms and patterns so it's been really enjoyable.
