reason #983 how you know you're living in nyc and still figuring your life out

you commit yourself on a daily basis to figuring out how to best keep track of your finances.

today, it's in the ledger that you get at the bank (upon request).

I love how the stripes on the pillar, tie, chair and on your ruffles match! (Lovely blouse, by the way!)

same goes for L.A!

i think i went about 4 months using the ledger...
it was so hard to remember to write things down after small debit card purchases...
like 2$ coffees.

hopefully it goes better for you!

This is an amazing picture.

I need a ledger.
Are they free?
Because I think it would be funny to have to pay for something to write down your expenses in.

Oh no. You're making me face reality. I need one of these. I need to keep track. I need to grow up.

In other news, can we talk about how cute you are?!!!!!!

Yeah! Think it's a global way of knowing you're on the way to getting your shit together... although, it never gets past the ledger point for me!

Same goes for Switzerland!! But then it just gets depressing because you realize how broke you are when you go to Starbucks and can't afford the $9 frappacino (but get anyways b/c you are in Luzerne and come on, when's the next time you're going to get something from "back home" in CH? and back home you don't even drink at starbucks, but that's besides the point).
p.s. LOVE your sweater!!

What a great picture!!! I totally swear by ledgers - I know everything is online but there is something comforting about writing it all down on paper! Good luck!

Meg, You are beyond cute!!! Loving the sweater and I have fought the financial monster many a times via the ledger, however in my current situation it is just too depressing. haha, so now I just play the guessing game!

I LOVE the look on the guy's face behind you! Almost a look of disdain for your show of responsibility!
Budgeting is hard. My partner and I are saving for a house and we live on a cash budget. It kind of sucks but what sucks most is realizing how much money I've wasted over the years on nothing. Gah.

Best of luck with the ledger.. it does work really well if you keep on top of it!! Once you conquer your own personal ledger you will be ready for two party ledgers (you and your significant other's)that one is not quite as easy!!!
p.s. I love what you are wearing ;)

i know how this feels - trust me, its the same in london!

i use excel spreadsheets. they make me feel better but i seem to complete them retorspectively... i don't think this is the point! oops.

and i adore your cardigan! colours are fab!

Amen, girl! Why is it so hard to remember to write things down? I doesn't take that long!

I just end up keeping my receipts (optimistically that I will actually record them), but when the stack gets too thick to close my wallet....I just throw them away. Or put them in a box, never to be seen again.

we have a ledger. in our checkbook. which we only use to pay rent.

we did the whole cash in envelopes system to keep track of our spending. and it worked - for a week!!
