hahaha my mother did the exact same thing to me about a year ago. and i accepted. without putting her on a limited profile. i haven't had reason to regret it yet, and i'm hoping that i wont lol. i'm hoping she continues to never go on it.
i tell my mother every time we talk about facebook that i WILL NOT be her friend if she joins. although i have chosen to share most of the information there with her. it's all about the intent (and timing).
I hate facebooK! I don't want my ex boyfriends finding me! We split up because we couldn't figure anything out, why on earth do you want to know what I'm up to! AND, MOTHER, DON'T JOIN FACEBOOK. I'M WARNING YOU.
1. Hahaha to your reactioin to your mother joining Facebook. I've had to clean up myy language and admissions since my Pops added me. 2. The book in queston is none other than The Dud Avocado by Elaine Dundy! 3. I got my certificate on the Thai island of Samui but I wouldn't recommed this because it's not accepted everywhere. Look online for any respected school. It's called a TEFL certificate and will cost about 800 squid (pounds) which is about $1600 (I think). Make sure there's classroom practise in it (should be about 6 hours). It's such an easy course and it opens up so many doors. Ah! Check out a school called International House (IH). Not only do they train you, but they've got schools all over the world which means you can move around easily. By the way, most contracts are a year long. The exceptions are Vietnam and Japan (where I recently rejected a job offer, damnit).
I hope this helps! It's such a fantastic way to travel. If you need any other information, let me know!
I love having my parents on Facebook. And for the first few months (with occasional slip-ups) if I was trying to get to their profiles, I would type in "Mom" or "Dad" and be confused when it wouldn't work. It's better than you think it is.
oh man, my mom did that last year too! Not that I write anything bad on there, but now I have to stop and think "do I want my mom to read this?" It's resulted in a lot of post revisions! And when I tell my mom my plans for later she'll say- " I know, I read it on facebook."
That's hilarious! Will you accept her as a friend? (I felt a similar way when my grandparents got unlimited weekend minutes on their cell phone and decided that our cordial 10-minute conversations should extend to hour-long chat-a-thons about my food habits, their aversion to dairy and teenagers, swine flu, my boyfriend's apparently unmemorable name, and all the tantrums I threw as a child.) And P.S.--I would love, love, love to be your friend too!
If it makes you feel any better, my 80+year old german grandmother, and all my cousins I never speak to, are also on facebook. I try to be open and honest about who I am, and let them follow up with questions (which they usualy don't).

Goodness! Two of my aunts tried to add me too. I kind of feel like Facebook belongs to my generation of friends. I can email my family, ya know?
When my dad starting following my blog that made me feel so weird. Still does. Not that I put anything incriminating on it, but it's just weird.
does anyone remember the glory days of facebook when you had to have a .edu (university) email address to even sign up?
now everyone's on the bandwagon. it's a bit disconcerting.
