a deal with God.

I have an irrational fear of throwing-up.

The possibility brings on something of a panic-attack.

So when I woke up this morning and thought that I might...first I lied on the cool wood floor of my bedroom and prayed. Then I moved to the tile floor next to the toilet and prayed. I splashed some cool water on my face and made a deal with God.

It went something like this, Dear God, I promise I will never again drink. Please just don't let me get sick. Not only will I not drink, I'll never again misuse this wonderful body you gave me.

{more water on face}

{more prayer}

And slowly it was revealed that my prayer was answered. The shaking subsided. And color drained back to my face.

So if the next time we go out for drinks and I get water, know this...I've made a deal and I fully intend to stick to it. All healthy food into the body shall go.

The ridiculous thing is that I only had two glasses of wine last night. That's it, just two. But I'm a light drinker and the last three times I've had anything at all have resulted in bad experiences. Prosecco, as much as I love it, has been crossed off the list entirely. Wine itself, may be next.

But Gottino was lovely and I'd highly recommend it.

Yeah, you're definitely not the only one who hates to throw up. I've hated it since the first grade...

ugh. Sorry you feel like that.
Reminds me of being pregnant again. Bad times.
Good luck with all things healthy.

I have an extreme irrational fear of throwing up, too. When I used to try to explain to people, they'd always say, yea I hate throwing up, too. But it's so much more terrible to be feeling nauseous and thinking that you'd rather feel nauseous for the rest of your life then actually have to throw up! It's definitely help me back from drinking as much as everyone else. I'm glad you're feeling better.

you're such a cute girl!!! :)

trust me... I've made this deal before, but unlike you- my self-restraint sucks!!! ;) I have gotten A LOT better. At one point, my then bf thought I had a serious drinking problem. It was a major wake-up call!

not that you had anywhere near my problem, but once again, i just wanted to say i LOVE your writing because i can always relate in some degree. I think i speak for a lot of your fabulous readers xo

Really? I try to make myself throw up so that I can feel better as soon as possible. I'm a rip-the-bandaid-off kinda gal... And throwing up really is very unpleasant. Unpleasant enough to give up wine though? I'm not sure... :)

I hope you don't mind, but I mentioned you and your blog in my last post. If you have a problem with it in any way, please let me know and I'll delete the parts that mention you.

Xoxo!

lol...I used to do the exact same thing ...I remember when I was a kid feeling sick and sitting by the toilet asking God why he was doing this to me ...lol. Although, the only thing that usually makes me feel better in the end ...is puking. I'm less afraid now but it took YEARS. Glad you feel better.

Same thing happened to me last night! I'm a drinker though so I don't quite understand how I woke up with a hangover after only two vodkatinis.
On a couple of random notes: I love the smell of laundry and that is a super cute picture of you!

Oh, I totally understand this one! I'm obsessive about making sure chicken is fully cooked so I don't get salmonilla and throw up. I've never drank to the point where I thought I might throw up either, cuz it's just so terrible!
I think we're just a rare breed that hate it more so than others. I've prayed long and hard many a time when I think I might throw up!

Great resolution, Meg! I sometimes feel like making a similar one, since alcohol is not frequently my friend either. Good luck!
