today i'm taking for myself.

today my good girlfriend sam and i are off to see these guys.
and have vegan pizza beforehand. (sam knows all the coolest places in nyc).

before any of that happens i'm treating myself: making my bed. big latte. perhaps a manicure? and wandering around a new york city inundated with cool, fresh air.

sometimes i have to remind myself that when i get a day off, it's not just a day off, it's a day off in a city that people from all over the world come to see. so...day-stay-vacay. or something.

What a perfect stay-vacation! Sometimes my fiance and I pretend we are tourists in DC without a care in the world. It's the best. Soak it in. Enjoy the changing of the seasons!

Lovely thoughts--and good for you for treating yourself.

It's a good reminder, really. I'm living in the city I always wanted to live in, and people are here vacationing all the time. I have the mountains less than an hour away for Pete's sake. I need to do a better job of appreciating this every day.

I'll be seeing The Lumineers in LA in a couple weeks! They were great the last time I saw them (I think I even heard of them through your blog. :)).

Have a great day!

that is such a lovely reminder! i feel like that with boston all the time. this week alone has basically made me believe that i merit a day like that as well. i think an egg sandwich, a hot milky tea, and a stroll through the common are extremely needed :)

That sounds like a perfect day to me. And yes, I would love to visit New York. So today I'll live vicariously through you and enjoy wandering those streets with my big latte. Thanks!

Sporadic manicures are key! I treated myself today, too. I was walking to get an ice cream (I finally checked into a hotel, instead of a dorm so thought I'd celebrate by eating icecream in bed with no one to judge me) and saw a food massage place on the way. Decided, why not? And sat down and enjoyed the best hour $5 has ever bought. Life is to be enjoyed, let's indulge xx

I love the Lumineers!

Your day sounds awesome! I always forget how cool Seattle is until I have friends who come and get excited about doing the tourist stuff I walk by and ignore everyday.

Enjoy your stay-cation!

sounds like a perfect day off. every time i take a vacation day, it's either to travel somewhere or filled up with appointments and must-dos. before this baby comes, i'm taking a vacation day for myself. you have inspired me!!

I have a day off today, but it's going to filled up with errands and boring but necessary things I need to get done. I'll live vicariously through you for today. Sigh. It will be my turn soon, i hope.

ahhhh so so so true. never ever take where you live for granted. i am so jealous of your view of the hudson, the charming neighborhood you mention and your proximity to the city that i would love to walk around for hours with an extra large coffee :)

Nice on. I had what I call a "daycation" in London on the weekend which is home for a few years. It's such a fantastic city and sometimes I need to step back and remember this.
